The opening of MRT Sungai Buloh Kajang Line

Clean new and empty !

I love train/tube/tram/subway. I had chances exploring it in London, NYC and major european cities. This year marked another achievement for Malaysia in moving into a developed nation by having a world class public transport network.

MRT Sungai Buloh - Kajang (SBK) line was officially on 17/07/2017. Prior to this, the first section between Sungai Buloh to Semantan was up and running 6 month ago. Last week was the opening of a complete 31 stations consisting of seven (7) undergrounds stations while the remaining 24 elevated station with total track length of 51 KM.

I hopped onto Pasar Seni MRT Station, located at the old 'Bus-Stand Klang' once a very prominent building during 80-90s heyday - being demolished for LRT interchange station. A sleek and modern design , seemless connection between LRT platrorm to underground MRT platform, I headed towards Kajang Station. Takes about 40 minutes with tall building, lowcost houses, squaters, rivers, highways with car back to back, all be seen from the train window. I love it.

Between the traffic jam driving , the flash flood when it rains, the parking, the price of petrol, the craziness that comes with short-tempered drivers, MRT ride beats all that bar none !
But mostly, I love it because it stops at most of my favourite haunts -- Ikea Cheras/MyTown Shopping Mall (Cochrane Station), Sunway Velocity (Maluri Station), 1Utama (Bandar Utama), Ikea Damansara/TheCurve (Mutiara Damansara Station), Sunway Nexis/Sunway Giza (Surian Station), Central Market (Pasar Seni Station).

And an icing on the cake - Satay Kajang . MRT station stops right infront of  Hj Samuri's famous Satay restaurant at Stadium Kajang Station. Bright, spacious and air-con cool, I found the MRT comfy. It was widespread in the news that the facilities had been subject to vandalism and misuse.

During the weekend I took my family for the ride. Most station were packed. There were families of a 3 generations from grand parents to grandchildrens, many senior citizens getting on and off - I found them enigmatic and cute. How excited they were in their chatter with similar-aged friends!
I love that there's a glass divider between the track and platform. These platform screen doors make it much safer for commuters. The glass elevators and the fast escalator  makes it very reliable transporation system.
